St Hild Certificate
The St Hild Certificate enables students to be recognised for studying with us in the most straightforward and financially accessible way. It can be given in recognition of study equivalent to Foundation, Certificate or Diploma level, but which is assessed internally by St Hild academic staff. It is particularly appropriate for students wanting to try out academic study.
Assessment
Each module requires two assignments of 2,500 words each or equivalent. Some modules are assessed by essays, others by a presentation or written reflection on Christian practice.
Requirements
Normally a minimum of one A-level (at Grade E or above) or equivalent. However, for mature students, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal academic qualifications. English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 (with no component under 6.0) or equivalent.
Modules
Modules cover a full range of options including Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, Christian Doctrine, Mission and Evangelism, Spirituality and Discipleship, and Reflective Practice. Language modules in Greek and Hebrew are also available.

St Hild Short Courses
Short Courses are the most accessible way to connect with St Hild. Some are fully online, others are a hybrid of online and in-person. They are an ideal way to develop skills in a specific area, deepen Biblical study, or take further steps in theology. Short Courses are an informal study route, taken without written academic work.

Autumn and Winter Short Courses
- Bible in Context 9 sessions in Sheffield at STC on Mondays, 9:30 am -12:30, starting in September 2026.
- Mission & Ministry in an Urban Context 6 sessions in Sheffield at STC on Mondays, 1:45 – 4:30, starting in October 2026.
- Rural Mission and Ministry 10 sessions online or a hybrid option in Lincoln, 6:30 – 9 pm on Thursdays starting January 2027.

Seedbed
Seedbed is a new format for training from St Hild College, designed for people interested in church planting. Our vision is to equip and empower a thousand leaders over the next decade, and we’d love you to be part of this.
